Featured Poem

Co-operation

Poet: J. Mason Knox

It ain't the guns nor amament,

Nor funds that they can pay,

But the close co-operation,

That makes them win the day.

It ain't the individual,

Nor the army as a whole,

But the everlasting teamwork

of every bloomin' soul.

I Have A Dream

Poet: Sam Butler, (c) 2011

I have a dream,
Many that is.
I plan on achieving,
This dream I call bliss.

We all have dreams,
That slip by each day.
The problem is,
We leave them to prey.

If you have a dream,
Protect it with care.
And one day you’ll be ready,
To make it more than a dream and share.

Be kind to others,
Dreams as well.
We all have dreams,
One day we will tell.

We would consider this to be one of the encouragement poems that reminds us to keep our dreams alive.  Not to give up, and to encourage others to live their dreams. They are meant for sharing.  We should help others achieve their desires.  Encourage them to turn their dreams into goals!  Share this motivating poems with someone who is discouraged about not achieving their dreams.

Motivating Words from Poetry

There are many motivational poems that can inspire us.  As we read the he verses in the poetry we may find sentences that can stand alone as a quote.   There are lots of motivating quotes that can be taken from the verses of such poetry.  Here are a few that we like, taken from poems written by Julie Hebert.  Her poems are ones that are inspirational but also ones that have wisdom in them.  Enjoy these quotes from her motivational poems:

"Take the next step and dive into something new, and you're sure to one day hit a home run."
from the poem Pick Yourself Up

"Think big, not small, rise, don't fall, and everything will go your way."
from the poem Our Mind

"A helpful hand is a lesson in sharing and if you have the means why not play your part."
from the poem, Receiving Help

"If you want something go out and get it, stop sitting and wishing you had."

"Decide what you want and make it true, with a little inspiration and trust."
from the poem, Much More To Aspire

As you read other poetry, try and pick out sentences that inspire you.  Write them down, post the quote where you can see it.  Poetry is like art, it can inspire and motivate you.  The next time you need a bit of inspiration read some motivational poetry, you may just find words that fit your situation!

Fate and Work

Poet:  Ann Jewels

I truly believe in fate,
That life has a plan for us.
As we go about our lives,
Fate will lead us to success.
But fate is just a sign,
That leads us the right way.
It gives us direction,
But it's up to us to pave the way.

So keep this in mind,
That there is a bigger plan.
No matter what the issue,
There is something around the bend.

But never stop working,
As hard as you can.
As to get anywhere in life,
You have to work as hard as you can.

We hope this poem inspires and motivates you.  We used this poetry for a graduation.  It is great to remind the new graduate that while life has a plan for us, it is also up to the graduate to work to achieve success. There are many graduation sayings that we have used over the years, but one of our favorites was said by Walt Disney, "All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them." We hope you share the verses of this poem with anyone who needs a bit of motivation.

Make Your Happiness

Poet:  Julie Hebert

When you feel,
Life isn’t true.
Keep in mind,
Life’s truth is you.

You make your path,
From here to there.
It's up to you,
To dream and care.

No one else can,
Make you happy.
So get right on it,
And make it snappy.

Life’s too short,
To waste your day.
I truly hope,
You get out and play!

We hope this poem will bring smiles to you and others. And, we also hope it is one that motivates you to realize that you create your own happiness by how you think, and what you do.  So much in life is affected by our own attitude towards what is happening in our life.  If you see the negative in everything, your life will be one of sadness and discontent.  But if you make the choice to look at life in a positive way by looking for the good in situations you will find happiness.

Good Thoughts

Poet:  Katherine Maurine Haaff

Good thoughts are the threads
With which we weave the web of life;
The threads which build
the strong and fibrous cloth
we know as character.
And, like the patterns,
That looms of the modern science weave,
Our lives can be no lovelier,
No stronger, than the threads
From which our lives are made.

This poem is a good one which reinforces that our thoughts determine how we see our world, our happiness and our success.  It talks about our life and how we live it by our own attitude actually determining our success.  A short poem full of wisdom to remind you to keep your thoughts positive!
